However, joining the beta requires a little more legwork than just hitting a button on the game’s Google Play listing (Fortnite Android won’t be available through Google Play). Moreover, due to Epic Games’ promotional deal with Samsung, there are some limitations on who can join the Fortnite Android beta and when. So here’s a handy step by step on how to join.
How to Join the Fortnite Android Beta (Samsung Users)
As mentioned, Epic Games has a promotional deal with Samsung for the Android version of the game. Not only does that include an exclusive Fortnite skin for Samsung users, but it also includes exclusive early access to the Android beta for users of certain Samsung Galaxy handsets. (Those who don’t have a Samsung Galaxy device should skip ahead to the next section).
The devices that can join the Fortnite Android beta right now are as follows: Samsung Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge, S8 / S8+, S9 / S9+, Note 8, Note 9, Tab S3, Tab S4. Users of any of those devices can head to fortnite.com/android to sign up and start playing instantly, says Epic Games.
How to Join the Fortnite Android Beta (Non-Samsung)
For those Fortnite fans who unfortunately don’t have access to a Samsung Galaxy device listed above, there will be a bit of a wait. Epic Games has said that the Android beta will become available a for a wider range of non-Samsung Galaxy Android devices in the “next few days” but unfortunately, it hasn’t stated exactly when that will be.
While fans are waiting for the floodgates to open, Epic does say that fans can sign up in advance in order to be sent an invite. Fans can sign up at fortnite.com/android and at some point, they will receive instructions on how to download and play the game. These invites will be sent in “waves” notes Epic, so the wait could be rather long.
Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and iOS devices. The Android beta is now taking place, with a full release planned for later this summer.
